| Mikuni 38 mm carb. Southwest Montesa 13MAY07 A must. Easy to jet, easy to start. You can also see the breathers from the clutch and gearbox. One also comes from the fly-wheel housing and are ran up to the air-box where they run through a small filter. | | | Uni (pod) filter. Southwest Montesa 13MAY07 After changing over to the Mikuni carb, I found it hard to get the stock air-boot onto the back of the Mikuni. Jared put me onto these pod filters and they are great! Now i can turn the carb to do jetting changes without breaking the airbox/air-boot seal. They fit real good with a minor mod to the old air-boot and are less mess. |

| Making the Mikuni fit....... 15 Aug 07 Changing over to trhe Mikuni has one one problem in that the opening is smaller to the cylinder. I paid the price of having a bad fit to the rubber connector by dusting the motor and wrecking it! Again!!. So now we've had this ring press-fitted to the carby to take to 45mm. The same size as the Bing carb and giving a better seal. | | | Rubber connector ring. 15 Aug 07 Because I didn't have the OEM connector, I had this aluminium ring made to assist the flow through the connector. Now all I need is good fuel resistant 45mm hose and I have a great fit. |

The springs that came with it were too heavy for me but now that I have the Gasser springs on them they're great! The comp and rebound dials are on standard as they were spot on for the first ride but I'll have a play with them over the next few weeks and see how much adjustment there is there. |

I tried it and I can tell you that the bike will start first time cold every time. I put the 40mm Bing back on and it was the same! Plug is NGK BR8EIX |
